INVESTMENT ANALYSIS - Does your plan offer the right funds/managers? Which asset classes are needed in the plan? How many funds should be offered? Is there an investment policy statement? Is it reviewed annually? What benchmarks are appropriate? Does the plan (DB only) need asset liability modeling? Should your plan offer target based or risk based investment options?
COMMUNICATIONS - Do the employees appreciate and understand the plan? Are there different methods of communication that are needed to improve the employee's level of understanding? Examples of the various methods used would be websites, conference calls and webcasts, posters, non-English speaking materials, payroll stuffers etc.

PLAN DESIGN - Are the right (key) employees benefiting from the plan? Does the plan meet corporate goals as far as attracting and retaining employees? What vesting schedule and eligibility provisions are appropriate? What other features should be included in the plan? Plan design should be reviewed annually.
VENDOR ANALYSIS - Is the plan priced properly given the amount of services needed and received? Has there been a significant increase/decrease in the assets or number of participants that suggest re-pricing the plan? Plan pricing should be reviewed every three to five years.
